Medium Intensity Type B Aviation Obstruction Light with Fault Monitoring

ICAO-compliant medium intensity aviation light with a dedicated fault monitoring alarm panel. Continuously monitors current draw to detect LED failures and power supply faults — and raises NMS relay alarms before any undetected obstruction light failure creates a compliance or safety risk.

How Fault Monitoring Works

The alarm panel monitors current consumption in real time and raises alerts before failures go undetected.

Monitor Current
Panel reads live current draw of the aviation light
📊
Compare Threshold
If current <65% of rated value → LED failure suspected
🚨
Raise Alarm
Light Fail or Power Fail alarm triggered instantly
📡
NMS Output
NO/NC relay contact output to NMS or BMS system
Light Fail Alarm
Triggered when current consumption drops below 65% of rated value — indicating LED circuit degradation or complete lamp failure.
Power Fail Alarm
Triggered when the mains supply to the aviation light is lost — separate from LED failure, ensuring both fault types are caught.

Applications

The fault monitoring variant is essential wherever undetected aviation light failure creates a safety or compliance risk.

Telecom Towers

NMS alarm integration ensures operations teams are notified immediately if the aviation light fails — critical for compliance.

Wind Farms

Remote sites with minimal human inspection benefit greatly from automated fault detection.

High-Rise Buildings

Building management systems can receive fault alarms and dispatch maintenance proactively.

Compliance-Critical Sites

Airport authority regulations require verifiable monitoring — the alarm panel provides an auditable fault trail.

Frequently Asked Questions

The fault monitoring alarm panel continuously monitors the current consumption of the aviation light. If the current falls below 65% of the rated value — indicating LED failure — the system triggers a "light fail" alarm via an NMS relay output. It also monitors for power supply failure and raises a separate "power fail" alarm. These alarms can be connected to any Network Management System for remote monitoring.

The dual voltage variant accepts both 48V DC (±10%) and 230V AC (180–250V) input. This allows the aviation light to operate from the tower's AC mains supply, with DC backup capability. Fault monitoring covers both supply conditions. Separate models are also available for 24V DC or single-voltage configurations.

The fault monitoring panel provides relay-based NO/NC (Normally Open / Normally Closed) NMS output contacts for both light fail and power fail conditions. These contacts integrate with standard telecom Network Management Systems, BMS platforms, or custom alarm monitoring systems, enabling centralised remote alerting without manual site visits.
