ICAO Annex 14 requires Medium Intensity Type B aviation lights (>2000 candelas) for obstacles above 45 metres, or in congested airspace where the aviation authority mandates greater visibility. Tall telecom towers, chimneys, and large buildings typically require medium intensity lights.
480 high-power LEDs with 50,000 hours rated life. At 12 hours operation per night, this is approximately 11 years — far longer than incandescent or halogen obstruction lights requiring frequent bulb replacement.
